What is the difference between the Basic MEC, Standard MEC, and Edge Advantage MVP medical plans?

Edited

The Basic MEC and Standard MEC plans are limited medical plans designed to help cover certain routine preventative healthcare needs. Both plans include coverage for preventive care services, physician office visits, urgent care visits, virtual care, emotional support line visits, and prescription drug benefits. The Standard MEC plan generally provides higher annual visit limits and broader access to covered services than the Basic MEC plan. However, neither MEC plan provides comprehensive medical coverage, and certain services—such as emergency room visits, hospital admissions, inpatient care, and many major medical expenses—are not covered.

The FlexWork Edge Advantage Minimum Value Plan (MVP) offers more comprehensive coverage than the MEC plans and is designed to meet minimum value requirements under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). In addition to preventive care, physician visits, urgent care, virtual care, and pharmacy benefits, the MVP plan includes coverage for services such as emergency room visits, hospital admissions, outpatient surgery, diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, and other medically necessary care, subject to plan limits and cost-sharing requirements. The MVP plan also generally provides higher annual visit limits and broader protection against unexpected healthcare expenses.

Because the plans differ significantly in both coverage and cost, employees should carefully review the Benefits Guide to determine which option best meets their healthcare needs. The MVP plan has specific eligibility requirements and is available only to employees who are classified as full-time and regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week.
